As the World Cup rages toward its certain, glorious end, one might be compelled to play the beautiful game digitally.
Football Manager has always fascinated me–a game reliant on data, a game that celebrates data–so it’s a treat reading Chris Tapsell’s take on it for Eurogamer.
Tapsell has the, erm, honour of having appeared in the game after signing with Lewes FC. It was a short lived career, but now, years later, he’s investigating how and why he received the ratings he did. The process and history revealed is interesting, if not underwhelming, and showcases that the people behind Football Manager care deeply about data.
